Employee Spotlight

Whether it’s technical, nitty gritty, complicated SEO questions, or if you just want to talk to a down-to-earth, and brilliant human, you can be assured Andrew is your guy. Andrew wears multiple hats in our agency, and helps with everything from hiring, to developing complex strategies for SaaS, Startups, and eCommerce businesses alike. And, so with great pleasure, we give you a behind the scenes look into who Andrew is.

About Andrew:

Location

Denver, Colorado

Professional Background

My educational background is in marketing and psychology, and I’ve used them both at CanIRank for the past two years. As marketing and psychology are so closely aligned, it has been a very valuable match in the making.

Random Tidbit

I have three undergraduate degrees for some reason.

Editor Comment: I just want to say that Andrew is highly underselling himself here, as Andrew is one of the most educated, cultured, and talented people we know, so don’t buy it.

Lightning Round Q&A with Andrew:

  • Would you rather find yourself living in a real-world version of “Chucky”, or “Scream”?
  • “Yikes, those are both rough choices. I’d have to say Chucky, because at least he’s small enough to kick away with a solid pair of boots.”
  • What area of SEO is your expertise? And what is your favorite type of client to work with?
  • “Optimizations, and I like working with e-commerce businesses because results are tangible, and architectures are bigger- which means more pages to rank with, and more things to break and resolve.”
  • Who is your idol and why?
  • Elon Musk- he’s revolutionizing space travel, transportation and being extremely weird on Twitter.
  • Can you show us some of the work you’ve done at CanIRank? (links, images, stories, whatever)
  • This is my basic process for getting pages to rank higher in Google. Now you know about as much as I do.
  • Candy or dessert?
  • “Dessert- it’s more thoughtful.”
  • What person/experience/beliefs led you to a career in marketing?
  • “A couple of really engaging professors in undergrad. That and the show Mad Men of course.”
  • Follow up question: Who was your favorite character in Mad Men? And who was the best marketer?
  • “John Slattery’s silver-tongued Roger Sterling is probably my favorite character. He was able to manage an intense and dysfunctional cast of characters to ultimately create a successful ad agency. All while keeping it light, of course.

The best marketer has to be Peggy Olson though- sorry Don.”

  • What is the coolest thing you’ve ever done?
  • “Get a Master’s at Cambridge- it was like real-life Hogwarts.”
  • Where do you geek out to learn more about SEO?
  • “Honestly? My coworkers! Rarely is there a trend in SEO that someone isn’t up on- I mean just check out the blog.”
  • If you could ban one thing from existence, what would it be?
  • “Fox News.”
  • Which SEO campaign that you’ve run are you most proud of?
  • RadSeason- optimizations for adventure sports and music festivals.”
  • What are a few random niches, that you personally could knock out of the park SEO wise because of hidden talents? (Think obscure things like rock collecting, or bitcoin, or IDK, whatever really.) lol
  • Kind of an expert on LEGOs, for what that’s worth. I’m also outdoors a lot, so camping and hiking is a world with which I am very familiar.”
  • Raccoons or Anteaters?
  • “Raccoons are way cuter, but Anteaters aren’t secretly tiny humans capable of anything… Still going to have to go with trash pandas- just Google Raccoon gifs, you won’t be disappointed.”
